One of my first disastrous experiments in the kitchen was when I made butter cookies for the first time. I really like these cookies and when I lived in my small village I could not eat them all I wanted, simply because they were not sold in teh local grocery store. So when I found the recipe in a cookbook, I rolled up my sleeves and got to work. I’m eating cookies almost every day! I thought. Naive of me, I ended up with huge block of cookies as they enlarged while baking and stuck together. When that “concret” cooled, it became so hard that there was no way to eat it. That was long time ago.
Since that day, it tooks me years and years until I tries to bake cookies again. Now, I’m no more afraid of cookies. I make them like hotcakes, with many different flavors and they are always perfect. Making cookies is easy. Just mix the ingredients in a bowl and bake. The time in the oven is relatively short, around fifteen minutes is enough. The important thing is to separate the dough balls on the baking sheet and to leave enough space among them so that when they grow in the oven they do not stick together.
