This recipe describes how to prepare delicious fried bell pepper rings in a very simple way, with no complications. Plus, it does not take too long. You willd get crispy rings outside with a tasty and melty heart of pepper. I love them and I usually serve them as an appetizer, accompanied by barbecue sauce, and, of course, a cold beer.

Serves: 4 Time: 20 m Difficulty: Easy
Ingredients
1 small green bell pepper
1 small red bell pepper
1 egg
Flour
Bread crumbs
Oil for frying
Salt
Directions
Wash the peppers and cut them into slices half a centimeter thick. Keep the end and the part of the stem for other recipe if they do not look like a ring. Season with salt to taste.
Coat with flour the slices. For this step, you can use a small plastic container: Place the slices inside and add flour, close and shake well.
Now arrange two bowls. One with the beaten egg and the other with breadcrumbs.
Drop each slice into the beaten egg and then coat in bread crumbs. Reserve.
In a large skillet over medium-high heat, heat the oil.
Check that the oil is hot with a sprinkling of breadcrumbs. If it makes bubbles, the oil is ready.
Add a few slices and brown them first to one side. Flip and brown the other side. The process takes about 2 or 3 minutes. I check frequently during cooking if they are ready. Place them on paper towels.
Repeat the previous step until you are done with all the pepper rings. Do not fry too many at the same time, as they will cool down the oil and rings will absorb too much fat.
It is done. Add salt to taste and serve immediately with your favorite sauce. Enjoy!
Hints, Tips, and Tricks
To accompany these washers peppers, you can use the barbecue sauce, ketchup, tartar sauce , sour cream , or your favorite sauce.
If you prefer, you can just fry the slices without breadcrumbs.
You can add spices to the flour, like freshly ground black pepper, sweet or hot paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, ground coriander seeds, …
If you want to be more precise with the temperature of the oil, check with a food thermometer that is about 170ºC.
Avoid oil mixtures for frying. Better use of sunflower oil or a very mild olive oil.
