Balsamic Vinegar and Honey Salad Dressing Recipe

 

This balsamic vinegar and honey vinaigrette has been one of my favorites since long time. I like it sweetness and the fact that it is not complicated at all to make it. You only need just three ingredients: olive oil and as you have already guessed, balsamic vinegar and honey. Although balsamic vinegar could be replaced by any other kind, I personally prefer this one because it has a slight hint of sweetness that fits perfectly with the honey. And it is this sweet little touch that goes very well for seasoning salads with salmon, chicken or bacon, among others. I also love it with rocket or lamb’s lettuce. Specially, the latter combined with nuts. Yum!

Ingredientes

  • 5 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons of balsamic vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon of honey
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Elaboración

  1. In a glass jar, put the olive oil, balsamic vinegar, a teaspoon of honey, a little of salt and a pinch of pepper. The order does not matter.
  2. Tightly close the jar and shake it vigorously until everything is combined and smooth.
  3. And that’s it. Use it to season your salad.

 

Sugerencias, trucos y consejos

  • Depending on your liking, you can vary the amounts of olive oil, vinegar and honey. The usual ratio is 3 doses of oil for 1 dose of vinegar. In this recipe, the quantities are the ones I usually use.
  • If you prefer, you can also make this salad dressing with a good sherry vinegar instead of balsamic vinegar or the one that you normally use.
  • You can add half a teaspoon of Dijon mustard, coarse French mustard, or even honey flavored. Be careful not to put too much because it is very spicy.
  • You can also use the honey variety you prefer: flower honey, rosemary, lavender…
  • You can also make the dressing in a bowl, stirring with a whisk all ingredients except the oil, then gradually add the latter while whisking.
  • This honey vinaigrette and balsamic vinegar is ideal for dressing a salad with salmon, a salad with grilled vegetables, green salad, rocket and pear salad, or give a different touch to a Lyonnaise salad.
