This article describes how to prepare pumpkin gratin. It is a very simple recipe in three main steps. A first one in a skillet, then baking to soften the pumpkin, and finally a last baking until the gratin is golden brown. Needless to say that this dish is good way to consume this vegetable that always singals the beginning of the fall. I do not want to underestimate the pumpkin, but what I like most in a gratin is always taking each bite with the melted cheese on top. Pumpkin Gratin Recipe
Ingredientes
- 1 kg of pumpkin
- 100 ml of heavy cream
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
- 100 g of grated emmental cheese (or more to taste)
- 1 or 2 bay leaves
- 1 onion
- Olive oil
- Salt and white pepper
Elaboración
- Preheat the oven to 175 ° C, top and bottom heat.
- Peel the pumpkin and cut it into squares.
- Peel and wash the onion. Cut it in julienne.
- In a skillet over medium heat, heat 4 tablespoons of olive oil.
- When the oil is hot, add the onion and saute for 5 minutes.
- Then add the pumpkin and bay leaf. Fry stir for a few minutes.
- Place squash and onion in a baking dish. Cover with parchment paper.
- Bake in the middle for 20 minutes or so.
- Meanwhile, in large bowl, beat the eggs with the cream, half of the grated cheese and nutmeg. Add salt and pepper to taste.
- When the pumpking is tender, add the egg mixture and sprinkle with the remaining grated cheese.
- Bake again for half an hour, or until top is golden brown to your liking.
- It is done. Let stand a few minutes before serving. Enjoy!
