I must admit that whenever I cook chickpeas I remember those days when I was starving and did not complain because we were having chickpeas at lunch. Yes, I hated chickpeas a lot when I was a child. Nowadays, I have found some recipes with chickpeas that I can say that I really like. Hummus is an example of that.
Hummus is a dish that comes from the Middle East, which consists of a mash of chickpeas and tahini. The latter is a paste of toasted sesame which gives the hummus its characteristic flavor. Traditionally this recipe was handmade, but today it is much easier with a food processor or blender. So, put all the ingredients in the machine and mix.

Sugerencias, trucos y consejos
- Eat with pita bread or vegetable stcks.
- You can add other ingredients such as cheese or yogurt.
- You can make the tahini yourself. Brown a couple of sesame tablespoons in a pan (without oil) and then smash it in a mortar until it becomes a paste. It takes a lot of time, but it can come in handy sometimes.
