Ingredientes
- 2 slices of your favorite bread, about ½ cm thick
- 25 g grated Emmental
- 25 g grated mozzarella
- 25 g grated semi-cured Manchego
- Butter
Elaboración
- Heat a griddle or skillet over medium heat.
- Spread a thin layer of butter on one side of a slice of bread and place it on the griddle, buttered side down.
- Top with the three cheeses.
- Butter one side of the second slice and place it on top, buttered side up.
- When the bottom is golden and the cheese underneath starts to melt, gently press with a spatula and flip.
- Cook until the other side is golden to your liking and the cheese is nicely melted. Watch out—it can ooze!
- That’s it! Let your grilled cheese rest for a couple of minutes before digging in. It’s hot! Enjoy!
Sugerencias, trucos y consejos
- You can add a bit more cheese if you like. Pile on as much as you’re in the mood for.
- On the side: a mixed salad with lettuce, tomato, cucumber, bell pepper, and onion, dressed with oil, vinegar, and salt.
- The trick to a perfect hot, melty cheese sandwich is medium heat so the bread browns slowly and the cheese has time to melt.
- Use any cheese combo you like, ideally good melters. For example: cheddar, gouda, and mozzarella also tastes great.
- For this American-style grilled cheese, many people spread a thin layer of mayonnaise on the bread instead of butter. Try it! It gets crisp and tasty, too.
